Circus Music?

There's also the theme song from Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Yes, that's a real movie. And music from The Elephant Man has a dark circus-y feel to it as well.

Oh, and the title of the insane Cowboy Bebop circus music is "Amusement Park". It's by Yoko Kanno. I recommend it for your insane circus music needs.

Demiurge out.

That's not to say that Tom Waits' Big Time and Black Rider don't also have excellent dark circus music.

A list of all of Tom Waits' work that would qualify as dark circus music would be rather long... :D

I think it's called 'entry of the gladiators'. Composer's name is "Fucik". Seriously.

I did a bearshare seach for "circus" and aside from a lot of country songs with the word country in them, KISS did something called "psycho circus". Lots of obscure stuff out there. Like I said, I imagine there are collage CDs which have circus themed music on them. That'd be your best bet.

Another group that you could look for is "Cirque Du Soleil".

Hmmm, looking at my CD the name is indeed 'March of the Gladiators', but the composer's name is correct... let me google... Shows up under both titles, so I would say that it is the same darned song with the title translated differently. No sign of the Canadian Brass version as a free MP3, but just to show willing... The circus version, Gods MIDI is terrible!

Look for Cirque du Soleil albums. Lots of haunting, atmospheric, weird carnival-esque music.

Cirque du Soleil mixed with Tom Waits would make for almost more atmosphere than you might actually want.

How about the 12 Monkeys soundtrack? While not exactly circus music, some of the tracks have a rather freaky carnival-like feal to them IMHO.
