City of Brass/Efreeti lovers

I am kinda "meh" about the vinyl map thing. I have the Ptolus one (the big one) and it has stayed in the scroll-tube since I pulled it out when I first got it.

Give me some PDFs I can crop, cut and paste into smaller chunks any day of the week </hijak>

Back to our regularly scheduled City of Brass programming...

I agree it isn't about practicality. Its about a vinyl map so HUGE it would cover a whole wall!
The RPG equivelant of your favorite motor vehicle maxed out to perfection.

Probably not a realistic product at all. But I like fantasizing about it.

I wonder how this will compare with the HackMaster "City of Brass" module that Kenzer put out. Will it be at all related?

To some extent I am sure they are. But this boxed set is over 500 pages of material. Plus maps.

Price? I am guessing similiar to Rappan Athuk: Reloaded. Approx. $70.00 full retail.

Plus this isn't a "limited edtion" kind of thing, so unless they do some kind of pre-order deal that sells out, it will show up at Amazon. I haven't heard anything that would make me think otherwise, at least.

As we get closer to release I am sure Bill and Clark will let us know if we should have any concerns about getting it via channels like Amazon.

It is definitely a problem that Necromancers market has gotten so small that print runs of 1,000 seem to make their customer base happy. So if this becomes an "exceptionally" desireable product, it better be demanded enough to give Necromancer the confidence to do a second print run. Assuming they are going to do about 1,000 for this as well. Maybe they will risk 1500 or more.

I guess we will have to wait and see what they tell us.

I expect that I will give somebody's money to Necromancer for this. While I would prefer to give Piratecat's money, it'll most likely be mine. :\

At any rate, this looks great! I knew there was a reason I kept my Al-Qadim sourcebooks when I was cleaning out my 1e and 2e stuff. Not enough genies in D&D these days. When was the last time you found a Djinn Bottle?

This looks so good for so many reasons, it makes me want to cry.

Then I think how this has been delayed and delayed, and, given that, may be delayed again, then I really want to cry.

Gotta say, this sounds pretty cool (especially as I'm an Al-Qadim fan from way back!)

But the pricing will ultimately determine if I pick this up or not. :heh:

I know the writing is done. So that leaves artwork and cartography. Then lay out. Then getting it printed and sent from China. It may be tight, but GenCon is a realistic release date.

I'm wondering if this will, in some way, shape, or form build off of any of the information found in "Secrets of the Lamp?"

I don't know. One of the authors would have to answer that. Even so, they might not be able to say, due to legalities. I do know that they pulled a lot of inspiration from old stuff, so they may have in some "form", but will it be recognizeable? I have no idea.

There is only one way to find out: Lie to my girlfriend and say that I got it for waaaayyy cheaper than the $70.00 price tag through Half-Price. :p
