I played for about nine months. In that time I saw most of the task forces except for the really high-level stuff, and all the strike forces. The repetition and inability to play at the same time as my RL and in-game friends finally drove me off, combined with some of the popular powersets starting to give me headaches regularly.
I only had two 50s, one hero and one villain. After you play the low-level content a few times, you'll never want to ever see it again if you're like me. It's easy to skip some of it in CoH by going into the Sewers. You also have a few more options as you level up following your origin arc or doing some hazard zone arcs. CoV isn't so lucky. It doesn't really have hazard zones at all. It's possible to street sweep some areas of regular zones for something like that effect, but the spawns are still a hair smaller and for me it felt more grinding to be constantly orbiting the same island.
When you dive in, check out the message boards for a guide to the accolades that grant you powers. Some of them can be achieved fairly early and are pretty useful. Also, if you miss the missions you need for them it can be a pain to get in someone else's mission for the badge you need.
