"As long as you give me a chance, I'm sure you'll learn to like me," Vanitri says. "You know, I ended up in this town when I lead some goblins away from the rest of my family, which as I told you isn't my blood family. I'm a pretty good friend to have."

OOC: Yeah, perhaps. I think Cades still set up pretty will with all his mounted feats, and even when dismounted, he has Alton to fight with him, and that's an advantage. Now at 3rd level, that's a different issue.

"Well...I guess so, but I only know about that because you said it so maybe it isn't...I hope we can be good friends..."

(OOC: 3rd level won't change things too much, will it? I figure Vanitri's better equipment should help though--any of it combat gear?)

"I hope so too Laynie. There's always room in my family for one more."

OOC: 3rd give Van 2WF and Weapon Finesse, and Precise shot for Ros (I think that's where she's going), which help them a lot. And it's only combat gear if you count armor and weapons :p

"My family is flexable, and you need not be a freefolk to be part of it," Vanitri says. "Just someone close, like a very best friend."

"You're very purr-sis-tent aren't you? Like a purr-sis-tent spell. My Mommy told me that those spells can last forever if you treat them right each and every day."

Vanitri chuckles, "Yes, that I am I guess. Your story just touches me I guess Laynie. I know I was lucky to have what became my family when I was alone, and I just wish the same for you as well. I'll make sure we find your place Laynie, don't you worry about it."

"Okay...thank you. I think I'm gonna still worry though, cuz Mommy says that a little bit of worrying is hellthy cuz it helps you remember what's important and crew shell."

Vanitri nods. "Being cautious is always a good thing little one. Your mommy taught you well."

"Is it?" Michael asks mildly.
"If you worry about a thing, you are worrying about it. If you can change the thing, why not act to change it?"
Michael sips his tea and examines his rock.
"If you cannot change the thing, why not prepare to endure it?"
Michael licks the pad of his thumb and makes a wry face.
"Bleah."
He polishes the wet rock with his thumb.
"I could, for example, worry about why my thumb tastes unpleasantly like dirt."
He appears to be becoming satisfied with the condition of the rock. Not actually satisfied with the polish of the rock yet, but progress is definitely being made.
"Or, I could remind myself that a little dirt gets into just about everything, and have some cocoa with cinnamon to get the taste out of my mouth. I think that may be more effective."
He orders cocoa with cinnamon, and the barmaid blinks slowly, as if to convince herself this is only to be expected from someone who spends most of his time rubbing a rock, and brings it back to him.
"We don't have peppermint much at home, but this is more warming. Just right for when you have to be up all night watching a nanny goat drop a kid."
Michael sips his cocoa and offers it to Vanitri and Laynie as well.
"Yes, I definitely believe this tastes better than dirt."
