First Post
All the polls and this thread made me decide to post an (admittedly) silly thread of my own.

In a knock-down, drag-out fight between these famous campaign cities, who would win? We'll knock one city out each round, until there is only one left standing!

I voted Waterdeep. And I'm really tempted to say some really, really mean (and quite possibly uncalled-for) things about the place. Bleh...

However, I feel that I need to confess: I have, once, run a really good game set in Waterdeep. And I think that's part of the problem with that city: If you aren't actually in Waterdeep, but you are playing in the Realms (or possibly even if not), at some point someone in the group is going to get the idea that "Hey, we should head over to Waterdeep!", no matter how far away you are, or how much such a trip is going to screw up the game. And no matter that none of the players have any idea what they're going to do there, we're sure DM will think of something to keep us entertained! (Yeah ~ you all get stuck in a series of nesting rooms with one-way doors in Undermountain and starve to death... :p )

Of course, the one good game I ran in Waterdeep was Shadowrun and not D&D...

Good lord, how can Union be allowed to survive the first round?

That list really makes me smile, thinking of how many cool D&D cities there are. Glantri City is especially awesome. That'd make a great sourcebook for WotC to produce or someone to file the serial numbers off of and release as a D20 book.

As silly as the place is, by the criteria of the vote I can't see Union losing. How can a place where the city guard is epic level possibly lose in a fight with anything short of Dis?

"Union. Where a beer costs 10,000 gp because it's a frikkin' EPIC beer, you little 21st level loser!"
