D&D 5E (2014) Clarification on Next basics (attack & damage rolls and bounded accuracy)

For what it is worth, I was contacted by someone at WOTC and privately told they are looking at AC, Attack Bonuses, and Stacking issues. Of course, I have no idea what they will do with them, but they're looking at those issues.

I am not mistaken, the cap for a PC stats is 20, so a +5 bonus.
Correct. Barring magic items such as the Belts of Giant Strength, ability scores are hard-capped at 20, with a +5 modifier.

It is possible to get a 20 Strength at creation with lucky rolls and half-orc for race.

Interesting. Keep us informed if you find anything out.

Now I expect a blog "Wizard employees looking at things".

That's weird. Why do you think he or she contacted you? Do they want to spread info?

I posted about a potential AC exploit, where you could stack a bunch of AC boosting things to crank your AC so high even a Balrog would need a natural 20 to hit you. The post was just a normal message board post, but someone from WOTC sent me a private message about it.

That could be a good thing, if they are trying to prevent uber min/max builds in 5E--right?

I know first hand they have a list of "bugs" they are actively looking at and fixing. The attack / AC is one of those things.

The attack values thing is not too bad so far, but I've only gotten a game with the current test packets up to level 3, so we'll see how it looks moving forward.

I'm not surprised WotC searches these boards tbh.
