Clash [JLU] - SPOILERS

First Post
An enjoyable episode. Fun to see the Shazam-Superman interaction. Although the fight seemed to be lifted from Dark Knight Returns (IIRC, and Miller may have taken inspiration from something earlier).

Unfortunately TiVo cut out at the last 30 seconds or so. Did we see who Luthor was talking to? Was it Waller?

Captain Marvel and Superman never fought in Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. They did fight in Ross and Waid's Kingdom Come, although the fight was more evenly matched in that contest. In this, Superman handed him his butt.

Yes.

Ah. Thanks, been years since I read either. I knew it was some sort of alternate future story, but the only one I could think of was Dark Knight. I just remember the Shazam trick to repeatedly use the lightning against Superman.

Cool. Was there anything significant other than finally revealing the connection and implying that, as lrsach01 say, their plan has only just begun?

There is also the connection to Hamilton, who we saw earlier in the Doomsday episode and know is part of Waller's cabal. I'm wondering if they will give us more info on that traitorous bastard.

I was very pleased with the episode. It's the little touches that make it so appealing, like remembering that The Atom is a Class-A scientific genius as well as a part-time superhero (and we've seen that in a couple past episodes).

Oh, they do! :)

Up her in Canada, I guess we're about 4-5 episodes ahead (rough guess) -- we've got 2 more in the season. I think the last 5 episodes just lead one into another. Very cool stuff.

That sucked. Captain Marvel is so much cooler. :)

Now all we need is a Captain Marvel cartoon. He's an interesting enough character to support a series.

Heck yeah. Go Canada, man. One line from last week's (Canadian) JLU made my wife laugh out loud, and she wasn't even watching the show -- she just heard it from another room. (James: Flash's line about the Batmobile)

And yeah, the twists and turns keep on coming. Supremely good stuff. It's been awhile since I've said "Kick. Ass!" out loud at the end of an episode.

This was the first episode of JLU I've had a chance to see in several months, and I was very happy with what I saw. Captain Marvel is an old favorite of mine, and the portrayal was perfect.

I've heard that WB once had plans for a Shazam! animated series starring the Marvel Family -- I wonder if this episode of JLU might not be a stepping-off point for Cap to get his own show. I'm not holding my breath... but I really, really want to see Captain Marvel duke it out with Doctor Sivana and (especially) Black Adam.

Did anyone else notice the C.C. Beck/Otto Binder tribute, the school in Fawcett City? I thought that was a nice touch.
