I must say I really like the Warlord. Several quite different builds and some awesome party synergy with one of these in the party. I must say I LOVE the Inspiring warlord utility powers. Combat Advantage and +5 to damage or +5 to hit/damage for the whole party with at-will powers. Yes please! :)

I would say the biggest failing for me in the Warlord is the disclusion of Insight from the class skill list (and the general non-support of Wisdom in the class.) I know it's just mechanics, and you can flavor how you want, but being able to read your enemies & anticipate their plans would seem to me a vital resource for a battle leader.

For me, one of the great archetypes of a Warlord would be Odysseus, and this class just doesn't allow for it very well. Hopefully there will be some mitigation for this in Martial Power 2, as I understand there will be a Warlord build with Wis secondary. But as it stands the Fighter class just does its job better in the sense of letting this player's vision come to life.

What are you talking about? The cleric didn't make the finals!

At least Clerics can fly. Warlords are stuck being glorified flankers who give their turn to the rest of the party. Which is probably the only reason they made it in, all the Strikers loving their extra striking, and not so much people loving Warlords to play for themselves.

I really, really hope the sorcerer doesn't win. After the ranger, its the closest thing to a "point and go boom" class, and I've never liked classes that a.) play simplistically and b.)rely primarily on huge DPR to recommend them, and Sorcs do both. Well, except for Chaos Sorcs, which I love, but one build can't salvage a class for me, especially when placed against the sheer genius of the Fighter and Warlord.

I just noticed your sig. I find it interesting that a "tactician style gamer" doesn't like the warlord. All the tacticians I know at least like it, and I personally find that the way the warlord plays meshes almost perfectly with my gaming mindset. I guess it's down to perspective - whether you see powers like commander's strike as passively "giving up" your turn or actively doing something that allows the best melee attacker to strike again, and with a damage bonus to boot. It might be a matter of semantics, but it does affect the way you visualize your character.
