Hey all, I was wondering if you could give me your opinions of some of the homebrew races I've created for my players. The story stuff is for my home campaign, but let me know what you think of their mechanics.

Aasimar: http://worldbuilderblog.me/2014/07/24/city-of-aasimar/

Deva, Mul, Shardmind, Thri-Kreen: http://worldbuilderblog.me/2014/07/29/what-a-deva/

Svirfneblin, Duergar, Shifter: http://worldbuilderblog.me/2014/08/21/were-off-to-the-subraces/

Warforged, Githzerai, Kalashtar: http://worldbuilderblog.me/2014/08/26/lets-get-mental/

Thanks!

Opinion: you're a champ for providing freebies to your fellow roleplayers. But...none of those races are "classic."

I've just had a look at the Aasimar entry and it looks good apart from the celestial resistances. That's a little OTT IMO. I'd suggest cutting it to radiant damage alone. Also, you might consider giving them the option of +2 Cha / +1 Wis.

Otherwise I like it very much.

Some of the races have "resistance to charm and domination effects," but:

1. I think you mean "you have advantage on charm saving throws" since resistance applies to damage only in 5e.
2. There is no domination category of spells anymore. Even the spells "dominate person" and "dominate monster" state that they "charm" the target on a failed save. So advantage on charm saving throws would cover spells with the word "dominate" in them too.

Some races only have +1 wisdom and no other stat bonus. They don't seem to have super powerful racial abilities that make up for this. Is this intentional?

Do Muls really have shorter lifespans than humans? Generally hybrid vigor makes for a healthier longer-lived organism even if sterile. And half-elves certainly have an extended life span.

Otherwise I think you are on the right track.

Hahahahaha. That's fair, but I didn't want folks to think the races I was offering were completely original either. The Eberron races are only 10 years old, but some of the others are definitely classic status to me. Maybe not iconic to D&D as a whole, but definitely classic in my mind.

I hear ya. I may cut out cold, but I think lightning is good to keep, because PCs rarely face radiant damage the way they might face fire, which the tiefling resists.

Hey, many thanks for the feedback!

I pulled the Mul life span from a PDF on athas.org, [h=3]Dark Sun Core Rules - The Burnt World of Athas[/h]
I think the races you're reading with the +1 Wisdom bonus are actually SUBraces (svrifneblin of gnome and duergar of dwarf). You can get the main race stats in the PHB.

Copy that on your first two notes. I'm making those tweaks now.
