"Classic" Scifi/Fantasy shows?

Another vote for UFO. I got the first season of it at about the same time I got my 40" TV set and my friends were all "Wow, you've got UFO!". Man was Straker a real hardcase, you don't get character like him anymore.

I'll look into all of these - thanks! Some reminders of some I had heard of but never saw more than pieces, but there are plenty I've never heard one lick about. This thread is really worth it - keep 'em coming if there are more!

Prisoner ... was that the one where some (all?) of the people were known by number and there were big bouncing white balls? I think I caught some of that way back when too, but only small fragments.

Yup that's The Prisoner. It was even parodied on the Simpsons where Homer defeated "Rover" (The big white ball) with a fork.

The Prisoner is also somewhat of a sequel to "Secret Agent Man" a series that McGoohan did before The Prisoner. Both are available on DVD as is UFO, Saphire and Steel. I don't believe Blakes 7 is out yet in DVD. You can get it in VHS though.

There is Ultraviolet about a secret agency that battles "Code V"s. Stars Jack Davenport (Coupling). Excellent series. Another good mini-series is Invasion : Earth (absolutely nothing to do with the L. Ron Hubbard books), it just got released on DVD, though I've not seen it at Best Buy. Very, very dark series though.

If you just want something funny. Coupling is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. There's also Absolutely Fabulous, it's fantastic up until about series 4. The Vicar of Dibbley, starring Jennifer Sauder's creative partner Dawn French. Classic British cast of eccentric characters.

Heh. I've got a magnetic copy of that stashed away somewhere. Sort of like if The Bill grew an X-Files wing, that was my impression.

I also just have to add my own strong recommendation of Spaced. Hilarious stuff.

Tecnowraith - Seaquest DSV Season One is just being released on DVD (see separate thread on this board), and all three seasons of The Greatest American Hero have already been released (I'm at the tail end of season three myself).
