Cleric Archer

First Post
I´m going to start a first level campaing and was creating my character...
There wasn´t any clerics in the group so I decided to create one, but a little diferent
I created a cleric of Corello to be an archer and fight at distance but I need help with the progression of this character....
I need feets to choose and spells to fulfill my archer part in the same time I level up as a cleric.

See my character:
for: 14
des: 16
con: 13
int: 13
sab: 15
car: 12

feats: precise shot (see note)
as I had chosen the war and elve domains that gives me the prerequisites to buy precise shot and some cool spells too.

i was thinking in take:
3rd: scribe scroll ( to have some important spells at hand )
6th: zen Archery
9th: Quicken spell or extend ( need to choose )
12th: Craft magic weapon and armors....
15th:

But there are some problems in this build.
First our DM doesn´t allow divine metamagic feats, only the divine feats without metamagic... and only spells from players handbook and spell compendium.
I don´t know if it will be a good character so I´m asking tips
please helps me :\

First, could you clarify what those attributes are?

Second, if there's a Wizard in the party you won't need Scribe Scroll - you can cooperate to produce scrolls.

I don't have my compendium with me, but there are quite a few good spells in it for ranged attacks -- not just for yourself, but for others as well.

Just going from the SRD, Guidance, Bane, and Bless are great -- that +1 from Guidance can help out with a tough shot, and if they're within range of a Point Blank Shot they're within range of Bane. Magic Weapon is a no-brainer until you get yourself an actual magic weapon, while Shield of Faith and Entropic Shield are good for keeping your ranged counterparts from getting a good shot at you. Divine Favour is also a good choice, for the bonuses you get to both attack and damage.

From the SpC: Blessed Aim; Grave Strike (depending on who you're fighting); Guiding Light; Sign (good for getting the drop on them.) That's a pretty good list for an archer at 1st level.

You absolutely must have Rapid Shot.

Zen Archery is not necessarily helpful. On the plus side, you do not end up having to boost all three of Dex, Str, Wis -- you can stick with Wis and Str only. On the minus side, you are an Elf so your Dex is likely to be pretty good.

Keep in mind that (except for this Zen Archery trick) a cleric with a good other schtick like you does not have to have a high Wisdom.

I would spend every feat you got boosting archery.

I think his stats are in the right order, just a different language.
Try:
for(STR): 14
des(DEX): 16
con(CON): 13
int(INT): 13
sab(WIS): 15
car(CHA): 12

I also have a low level archer cleric. I went human, for the feat and skills (fairly low Int), since I can get the lowbow prof and focus from war domain. I also went with travel as my second domain, adding some speed so I can get out of melee.

Zen archery allows you to replace your Dex bonus with your Wis bonus for attacks with ranged weapons...your dex is already +3 so I wouldn't waste a feat on that, or if you like the feat and plan to boost your Wis, move around your stats.
I picked up point blank shot, and heroic spirit (going for Heir of Syberis PrC eventually). My next feat will be precise shot, because the people I'm shooting at always seem to be in melee with my partymates. Was thinking of going rapid shot/many shot after that, but depends on how he is working out at the time.

As an Elf consider taking the Elf Domain from Spell Compendium, this will give you Point Blank Shot as a bonus feat. If you take the War Domain, you will then get Weapon Focus Longsword as a Feat.

You also might consider taking a dip into Ranger for at least 2 levels to get Rapid Shot for free. Of course this will require you to wear light armor and works best if you are a Wood Elf so you do not get muliclassing XP problems.

sorry for the language I didn´t notice

Yes I took War domain to gain weapon focus
and Elf domain to point blank shoot
and as my first level feat I took precise shot
third level I will get rapid shot

If I change my size to a bigger one with divine might( I don´t remember the name but it´s from 5th cleric level) and cast divine favor i would deal a cool damage ^^
thanks for the spell and i´ve to spent at least one point in con to increase it to 14 so my HP will get a bit better and the rest of the points ara going to wisdon and only wisdom

Hi there,

I have played an Elven Cleric Archer. They are a great build and lots of fun.

I'd personally rearange stats a bit since Dex will only be for AC after 6th level.

for(STR): 14
des(DEX): 14
con(CON): 13
int(INT): 14
sab(WIS): 15
car(CHA): 13

The extra skill points will help a bit if you decide to go into any Prestige Classes.

For Deity I would go with Solonor Thelandira since you took the War Domain. That will give you Weapon Focus Longbow.

Quicken is nice as a feat. For Extend just buy a Lesser Rod of Extend when you have the gold for it. It will last you into mid levels (10-12) before you want to get the upgraded version.

Let us know how the character turns out.

:)
