Cleric "Elemental" Domains, feats, and such...

Ok, Kai, so you are saying that Extra Turning gives you 4 extra attempts and they can be applied to any of the 3 differant turning categories for this cleric, like drawing from a pool?

Exactly. An elemental cleric *without* Extra Turning can use his *normal* allocation of turning checks to affect elementals. Extra Turning expands his *normal* allocations by 4 checks, which for the elemental cleric would obviously include those same elementals that he was *already* turning before he acquired the feat. I find it amusing that some are arguing otherwise....

You do realize that the elemental cleric has the normal 3 + Cha modifier turning attempts against undead, and 3 + Cha modifier more attempts for the air domain turning, and 3 + Cha modifier more attempts for the fire domain turning, right? If the cleric's charisma is 14 (+2), that is 5 turns against undead, 5 turns against water/fire, and 5 turns against air/earth.

Okay, I see where you guys are coming from. I took the "3 + Cha modifier" for turning elementals to just mean that he uses his normal checks for undead, which would be the same. In other words, an elemental cleric with a 14 charisma could make 5 total turns against undead OR elementals. If I read the rule incorrectly, and the cleric gets 5 turns against undead *and* 5 checks against elementals, then I agree that the feat would need to be taken twice to affect both.

It seems like the intent of the domain was just to add elementals to the list of creatures a cleric could turn, without increasing the number of his attempts. But maybe I'm wrong.

I hate to say it... but that is actually the correct one "as written" reading due to the sentence diagramming.

And I agree with this 100 percent. Thus - the wording alteration in my previous post for all the domain abilities

You can turn [creatures of category x] and rebuke or command [creatures of categoyr y] as if they were undead.

:)
