Clerks sequel!!!

Over at comingsoon.net, they're reporting that Kevin Smith has declined to direct Green Hornet, opting to move "The Passion of the Clerks" to the top of his schedule. I guess this kinda negates the whole "End of the Askew-niverse" thingy, but I'm a happy nerd.

In other KS news, apparantly he came to the above decision while working on a three-disc (!) Clerks 10th Anniversary DVD. First I'd heard of the project. Anyone have any ideas what'll be on it?

Gotta say, Clerks sequel, I love it. Now, KS, regardless of money, make it on grainy black-and-white film, please!

How long until people start complaining about that title? Of course, the maker of Dogma is no stranger to controversy.

I heard that he wasn't interested in doing any more big budget movies and that he wants to get back to more cerebral films with engaging dialog. Good for him.

Hm. The qote I saw from him said that he realized that he wasn't doing well with big budget movies. It seems that Jersy Girl's failure has shaken his confidence, so he's moving back to something he feels more comfortable with.

Bad move, IMHO. One does not improve and grow by stepping back into what is comfortable. Especially considering the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was... weak. The Askew-niverse isn't screaming for more story to be told in it.

Okay, I'll start. He went with that title precisely because it's going to cause controversy. At best, it's weak. I agree that while there may be more stories to tell in that little universe but they aren't screaming to be told.

His early success will probably doom him to these types of movies and from the evidence of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and the cartoon, that's a direction he should run, not walk away from.

Of course, nothing is final yet. Could just be a working title.

If anyone recalls the end of Dogma, there was to be a Clerks sequel by the name of "Clerks 2: Still Clerkin." I wouldn't read too much into any title. Just because it mirrors "Passion of the Christ" doesn't mean he did it to stir up controversy. Maybe he just thought it was funny. I did. *shrugs*

Was I the only one who thought Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was hilarious. Granted some of the other movies in the askiewniverse were better, but I still laugh until my sides hurt when I watch that movie.
