D&D 5E (2014) Climbing walls etc?

But can't my Dex rogue use Dex instead of Int for investigation? I mean they need nimble fingers to manipulate the puzzle cube to try and figure out how to open it. I know I put 8's in str and Int and wis, cuz why would I ever need those?
