Close Wounds to prevent your own unconsiousness?

The Close Wounds spell is an imediate action and "effectively prevents the hp damage" when declared right after damage is rolled. Can a cleric cast it on himself when taking a blow that would normally reduce him to negitives (and thus unconsiousness) and remain consious by it?

Yup certainly if it does prevent the hp damage. Cause you're not in the negatives then.
