Aha. I wondered why things had seemed rather odd lately. Knowing that I'm just a figment of Piratecat's mind explains a lot. ;)

As it happens, I'm the administrator of the hivemind.net domain name. Would it be foolish of me to offer the regulars around here @hivemind.net email address aliases?

I am currently in the process of writing a 3,000 word essay on the Venerable Bede, as to whether he portrays an accurate picture of 7th century Britain in his Ecclesiastical History.

My brain is turning to mush...

Just point out that Beowulf does a better job of portraying history, and complain about the fact that he doesn't include enough dragons :p

Trust me, I've run into enough references about the indications of Beowulf on the English societies and cultures of the period anyway. Moral of Beowulf is that, facing all kings and kingdoms, even the mightiest of champions, is an eventual defeat and death.

And Bede doesn't include enough dragons, though he does include lots of random miracles.

So far I've noted 6 books, am taking a break in the middle of another, and then have two more to do as well as more reading of the actual Ecclesiastical History itself. Then onto starting to properly write the essay...

That seems like a good idea. What we'd use them for, however, I have no idea. :D

That's funny. I thought the moral of Beowulf was that if you really want to get somebody's attention, pull their arm off.
