What Is Your Favorite Linear Adventure/Campaign

Reynard

aka Ian Eller
As I get close to end what was a more trying "open world" and "player driven" than I expected D&D campaign, I think I want the next one to be more story driven and linear.

So what linear, story driven TTRPG campaigns have you played or run that you really like? Any system, but extra points if there is VTT support for it.
Some details would be helpful, too: theme, mood, how long it lasted, how much freedom PCs have within the bounds of the story, etc.

Thanks.

Bar one or two, the Paizo adventure paths for Pathfinder 1st were really good. Each one took us about a year face to face gaming with weekly or fortnightly sessions.

Main ones that I really liked were Shackled City followed by Age of Worms, and Rise of the RuneLords. They would take a little converting but well worth it for linear campaigns.

RHoD is a great adventure. It is one of very few 3.x books I kept after a massive purge due to a move.

I wonder if there are any good conversions for it, to 5E or otherwise.

Yes, there's a good bit of work out there on moving it to 5e.

...I've also had the thought it would make a good Campaign Frame for DH. It's pretty hand-wavy and scant on world details such that it would be easy to do collaborative stuff, you could work together to fill in the Dwarf Holds and other areas, countdowns would work for tracking the various time pressures and you could make it open, it's a pretty wide-open play space once you kick the whole invasion off...

Murder in Baldur's Gate is a solid thing.

My group enjoyed Zeitgeist quite a bit. War of the Brurning Sky was also good, but was a bit of a slog in the last few adventures. That might have been more a 4e problem than a campaign problem, though.

Rise of the Runelords is very good and pretty classic fantasy.

I really like Wrath of the Righteous and Iron Gods as well. Mummy’s Mask is fun too but very undead heavy.

I really enjoyed running The Zalozhniy Quartet for Nights Black Agents in SWADE. It was a fantastic experience my players still talk about a couple years later.
