Yikes - sorry to hear it. Is is high-stress, or do you think you can land something locally in the same field?

I hope things go as well as possibly in the next little while.

It was not unexpected, but there's was always the idea that I wouldn't be one of the ones to lose my job. I'm an expert in refractive laser surgery, medical manufacturing, and C++ and will be impossible to replace quickly (I was there 10 1/2 years). This just proves that everyone is expendable when it comes to sink or float for a company without money (I made more than anyone else except the president, and that includes the CFO).

But, being very good at programming and management, I should be able to find a job locally. I'm not thrilled about the idea of moving to CA, though I have lots of possibilities there.

Maybe I'll become a professional bridge player. :)

Yeah, who would want to live in California, especially the Los Angeles area? ;)

That is good that you should be able to find a job.

I like the idea of being a bridge player.

At least in L.A. you get some years with holidays from earthquakes, unlike the annual hurricane barrage in FL.

Sounds like you're pretty upbeat. May the code be with you.

I'm not too worried for you, only an idiot wouldn't hire you once you get an interview. ;)

It's been a strange week for me - first a coworker is diagnosed with a brain tumor (I didn't know him very well, but how often does that happen?), then someone killed all the fish in my koi pond. :(

Gansk, I have been going to your house almost every week for years, and I did not know you have a koi pond. Never mind, I just figured out you mean your rental house and I do know about it.

That is a bummer when that happens. My brother stopped putting fish in their pond because every year a migrating heron would stop by and eat all of them.

Just to ease my troubled mind, and speaking theoretically if need be:

Anyone tell me the effect of a beholder's antimagic cone on a Wall of Force?

Antimagic Field states: "Certain spells, such as wall of force, prismatic sphere, and prismatic wall, remain unaffected by antimagic field (see the individual spell descriptions)." IMO, the key word is "remain." For they to remain unaffected, they must be cast before the AMF is brought to them. If that occurs, then the AMF will not pass through the wall of force.

Wall of Force states: "The wall cannot move, it is immune to damage of all kinds, and it is unaffected by most spells, including dispel magic." In this line, it's clear that we're talking about how to destroy a wall of force. Thus, an AMF cannot destroy/dispel a wall of force.

However, IMO the real question is whether an AMF breaks line of effect. Can you erect a wall of force inside an AMF? There's no definitive rule on this either way, but I say it does break line of effect. Consider that if it doesn't break line of effect then there will be some other weird possibilities (such as summoning a creature into it just to have it wink out, or worse, creating a wall of stone within it).

This is theoretical, and Leona would know none of this, having no Spellcraft. A wall of force is unaffected by anti-magic, and would block a cone of it.
