[CMP] Price are up

Given the longstanding eTools quality and support tradgedy I really hope people play it smart and don't preorder these datasets. Nothing against Codemonkey, I hope they can win back peoples trust for WotC. Eric Noah is right that we should wait and see how the patched eTools comes out. If we see nothing substantial being changed about the core program I can't see how paying even $10 before hand is worth these data sets.

I don't think data sets should be generated until after revision 3.5 comes out. They should spend the time before this focusing on patching and completing eTools to a state worth the original money paid for it.

By the way, are there sny details on how much these data sets will be integrated with the program interface. That is, will we be able to apply filters and easily select and sort the data in eTools from the interface? Will accurate and sufficient documentation be included with these data sets?

All these data sets make me wonder if the customization features of eTools will ever get completed in the patch. It doesn't make much sense to pay $14 for a data set if you could enter in a prestige class on your own such as through Davin's editor.

Considering the history of e-Tools, I don't blame people for being gunshy in the slightest bit, that aside though, I think our forums are doing quite a bit to restore confidence in e-Tools. There is a lot of positivity over there right now, and yes, I understand, if we fail to deliver it will evaporate in a heartbeat. We don't intend to fail in the slightest, I expect people will be more than happy with what we accomplish for the patch.

As for focusing on Data Sets, where does it say we're focusing on that? We have seperate teams of people working on the different things. We have dedicated Code and Data Monkeys working on the patch, and we have dedicated Data Monkeys working on the data. While they do cross over ("Hey Greg! We need x code to support y feature!), they are definately 2 seperate areas/teams.

As for the other questions, we plan on integrating things as seamlessly as possible, making it as easy as possible for people to use them. Not doing so would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

And your last argument about pay vs entering things yourself, well, how much is your time worth to you? Is it worth the small amount we ask for for each book to have something you know will work, or do you want to take the time yourself to enter things and possible make errors?

That's each persons call, we're not holding a gun to anyone's head and saying buy our stuff or else.
