Trying to write up the stats for my next session I noticed there are more differences: The Rattelyr in fact does have spellcasting. And imho the rattle abbilty does not really fit.
Leaving these abbilities out would mean that we can retain the CR and the LA of the rattlyr (or even lower the CR?).

I would keep the spellcasting, but by all means drop the rattle. If you do not feel you want it as a spellcaster, lower the CR by 1.
