What the hell

I, corrupted by incalculable exposure to the horrible truth and total erosion of my sanity, would be a depraved worshipper of Shub-Niggurath, Black Goat Of The Woods With A Thousand Young.



In a small town, teen pregnancy is at an all time high. This wouldn't be much in the way of news, if it weren't for the fact that sonigrams reveal that their children aren't even vaguely human. What fell force has touched this cities children, and who is behind it? What will happen if the dark madman behind this horror isn't stopped in time? And will anyone suspect the bright, upstanding young man in the advanced classes...?

The evil cults unearthed throughout the campaign are all tied to a mysterious man called H'ch-Pi-El. He is not the leader of these cults, but more of a guru, and all of their mythos knowledge stems from him.

Very detailed research might allow you to find out (before hideous monsters from beyond rip you to shreds) was that before becoming a master of the eldritch, H'ch-Pi-El was a horror writer for various pulp publications (mostly Weird Tales) by the name of Howard Philip Lovecraft, and currently lives in a mansion in Providence Rhode island.

His writing accidentally called into being the True Gods and the Great Old Ones. (In a paradox of sorts, Cthulhu has been alive yet trapped in R'lyeh for billions of years, starting when The Call of Cthulhu was published.) Now H'ch-Pi-El is all that stands between Earth and the monsters from beyond. He created the cults and sacrifices to keep them from devouring us all. Who knows what might happen if he were to be killed by a group of well meaning investigators.

"Finally the grand master cultist H'ch-Pi-El sinks to the ground, blood oozing from dozens of bullet holes in his chest. As you approace, guns at the ready, you hear him gasp, expelling flecks of frothy blood from his mouth and nose, 'It's too late. We're all dead.' Then Azathoth eats Earth, you all die, along with everybody else. Game over."

As their creator, H'ch-Pi-El has total knowledge of the Mythos and cannot die through natural means. He is a 15th level Cult Sorcerer (Cthulhu) with all of the artifacts and spells presented in the CoCd20

In the COC "canon", there's a Great Race of Yith outpost on the Moon ("Bad Moon Rising" in The Great Old Ones adventure anthology from Chaosium), and more interesting yet (for a modern-day campaign, anyway), an outpost of Mi-Go and temple to Shub-Niggurath (the Delta Green supplement "Machinations of the Mi-Go" from Pagan). The latter is very interesting, indeed, especially given the modern activities of the Mi-Go as according to the Delta Green book.

They've been (in DG world) experimenting on humans with the implantation of protomatter (proto-shoggoth tissue?) and this is probably the fate which befell the astronauts. They've been (in DG world) experimenting on humans with the implantation of protomatter (proto-shoggoth tissue?) and this is probably the fate which befell the astronauts.
