CoC Sanity rules in D+D

If I know orcs exist because my uncle was killed by one, the local militia proudly displayed the body of an orc raider they had killed, then my being Zero level should not make it possible for me to lose sanity by seeing an orc.

But, since you are 0 or 1st level, you are still too weak in the mind to deal with it if you fail your Sanity check. I guess it would be like a kid watching a horror movie compared to someone in their 20s.

And you can also make the argument that just "knowing" that those things are out there can cause Sanity loss. You know orcs exist; you've heard the tales and everything. When you see something for the first time, bang! there goes your mind. You just can't deal with knowing that civilization teeters on the edge of a knife.

It is just a matter of taste, though.

I was going to use Sanity in a game and found the sanity rules in CoC were to easy going on the players. Looking at CR and Sanity loss a character would be hard pressed to lose more then 3-4 SAN points a level, add in the 1d6 each level and the charactes are doing OK.

So I made up my own little system instead. It's not as forgiving, so the players will actually have to deal with the horrors of seeing walking skeletons, abberations and other general wierdness that a PC faces.

I attached the file, so download away. If you have any comments let em fly. I'm still thinking about using this at some point and would like any input.
