Codex Anathema changed to... Lords of Madness?

To clarify: if it doesn't fit anywhere else and has tentacles, it's an Aberration.

And no, Jester, said tentacles are not neccessarily naughty tentacles. :p
My ettercaps and gibbering mouthers seem to be missing tentacles. I demand a refund! ;)

NO!

Keep your Eberron out of my Realms. I don't care for Eberron, and I especially don't want things from it leaking out into core D&D (just like I'd shudder if warforged ever showed up in 4e as a core race and then promptly ban them from any game I ever ran).
Well, last I checked, Lords of Madness is hardly core, either. Your aberrations can still have absolutely nothing in common with each other whatsover, if you wish.

And, just because something originated from the Eberron campaign setting doesn't automatically make it a bad thing.

They keep their tentacles in an area where their bathing suit covers, so you're not ALLOWED to see them, mister!

Though with a Gibbering Mouther, such an area could well be somewhere inside the body. It's hard to tell with them. :uhoh:

Having all (or even merely most) aberrations come from the same plane is not a good idea. It's OK in Eberron because the setting has its own cosmology, but enforcing that in every other setting would be silly -- often incompatible with previous background.

In the MMIII I didn't want all those "creature name in Eberron, creature name in Forgotten Realms" wastes of space. Not that I don't like Eberron, I just think it should have its place like FR outside of the Core books.

Waste of space? Did you notice that with that little addition, every single monster entry in MMIII took up exact pages? No creatures start at halfway down a page. Making it excellent for photocopying and sticking in your adventure packet without needing to flip open the book for the creature stats. I love it!

As for the book title.. Eh. I like Codex Anathema. Makes me think of Exalted, and Exalted is spifftastic.

I suggested alternate names. If someone could forward these to charles ryan I am sure it would help! But I don't have his email...

Summa Terrorum -- Based on Summa Theologica this is my personal favorite.
-or-
The Sum of Terror --This would work better than lords of insanity

Monstrum Insaniae
Tome of Terror
Tome of Madness

Aaron.

"In this case, the response we got from the majority of distributors and retailers in the hobby and book channels was a resounding "huh?" Most people, sadly, don't have any idea what a "codex" is or what an "anathema" is, and when you put those words together, you get a name that is totally meaningless to them."
I find it odd that most hobby retailers wouldn't know what a codex is, given that the army books for Warhammer 40K are called Codexes (Codices?).
