I bought my dad a bottle of Armagnac from 1943 a while ago. I can't wait for him to crack it open.

On the subject of cognac, though, I'm no expert, but a friend of mine swears by Martel.

So, we ended up getting a bottle of Hennessy VSOP. I having my first drink right now. Strong stuff (42% alcohol).
