Colorado Honeymoon Approaching

My wedding and honeymoon are rapidly approaching. My fiance and I are planning all of both together, but I'd still like to surprise her. I'll be staying in Avon, CO from 09/11 until 09/18.

What (other than the obvious) can I do/take her to to surprise her? Colorado-ites, speak up!

We'll be hot air ballooning and horseback riding and possibly riding a train in Leadville. I won't have time for too much extra but any help y'all could lend would be greatly appreciated.

I actually spent part of my honeymoon in Colorado, and I've been sitting here trying to think of ideas for you, but nothing tops (or even comes close to) hot air ballooning or horseback riding.

Your trip sounds absolutely fabulous as is. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Maybe I'll surprise her the other way and find a hobby shop to go shopping in, then!

Heh. Well, if this ends up being all I get, at least I know we thought of the right things to do.

If you've got a spare day, I've found that just walking through one of the many great state / national parks in Colorado can be a lot of fun.

Heck, you could probably tour the Air Force Academy, if you're in the right area (Colorado Springs), though I don't know if that would do anything for you. Their chapel is an impressive bit of architecture, and the static displays all over the campus are neat if you've never been up close to a fighter jet before.

If you're near Colorado Spings, there's taking the train up Pike's Peak. I went a few years ago in July, and at the top of the mountain there was snow on the ground. (Take a jacket.)

And another fun thing is to grab a map and just drive through the mountains... lots of beautiful scenery out there.

And we've got an anime convention here in Denver the weekend of the 18th.

Colorado Springs will be too far away based on my calculations. I did find some scenic routes in an old book just north of Denver, though.
