Combat and book keeping - How long does it take in your group?

We wing it. No one ever plays a wizard or cleric, and if they do, no-one ever takes buff spells. Monster/NPC hit points are sort of guessed at and written down on paper, but its unsure if the GM will remember which number is which. We used to be really detailed about HP, and I found it wasn't nearly as fun.

I know the rules really, really well. :)

Combats in our groups generally take 15-30 minutes, even at high levels.

Some of the really high level combats take up to an hour, but they generally involve a lot of combatants.

Cheers!

Well, I think I will just reread the rules (I'm one of those who learned 3.0 but nerver got around reading the rules chapter in 3.5, so that might help. Especially since playing Arcana Evolved for a year just raised the overall confusion. Does standing up from prone provoke or not? It is different between those three games...)

Than I hope that, as time passes by, my players will get better at plaing their characters. It is them who cost us most of the time after all. Having played their characters for 8 sessions (and raising from 6th to 7th level during that time) might not have been enough time to really gewt into their group tactics. (Especially since there was some switching chars etc.)

Thanks for the replies!
