Comment on my version of Wee Jas

Wee Jas, as she is presented in the PHB and the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer, never made much sense to me so I've altered her for my purposes. Now, she's a little more like Kelemvor from the Forgotten Realms and now it makes sense that paladins would be in her service. She also now stands in sharp contrast to Nerull and seems less the "back-up" deity of death. Please tell me what you think.

Wee Jas, the goddess of death and magic, is lawful neutral. Her titles are Witch Goddess and Guardian of the Dead. Wee Jas allows followers of any lawful alignment so long as those followers adhere to the tenets of her faith. Her temples are primarily in larger towns and cities where her followers function as caretakers for cemeteries, executors of estates, and archivists of magical lore. Followers of Wee Jas understand death to be a natural and orderly process. Undead represent the highest offense to her teachings. All clerics of Wee Jas turn undead no matter what their alignment and are forbidden to create undead. Wee Jas is a somewhat cold and distant deity and thus doesn’t care if her clerics are good, evil or somewhere in-between – all that is required of them is that they obey her laws (which are few but strict). Her clergy thus tries to avoid moralistic discussion and instead focuses on maintaining order within their ranks and adherence to duty. Paladins in her service tend to organize into small wandering bands that seek out undead to destroy or recover lost powerful magical items. Her followers have no special feud with the Church of Boccob as both institutions seem to think there’s enough magic to go around – at times they even cooperate in joint ventures. Her church actively opposes the churches of Nerull and Incabulos as these deities bring a premature end to life. The church of Wee Jas has no special affiliation or relationship with any other church although local temples will usually ally with temples of other lawful deities.

Dogma: Preserve and expand magical knowledge. Using magic is an art of order; oppose those that would use magic wantonly, foolishly, or in the service of chaos. Seek out and destroy undead. Recognize that death is a gift, an essential part of life that has its own order. Help others die with dignity at their appointed time and no sooner. Proper burial is the one sacrosanct right of all thinking creatures. Oppose those that would bring death through needless slaughter, disease, calamity or famine. Honor the dead and remember their works.

Domains: Law, Magic, Spell, Death (the Death domain for Wee Jas differs from that presented in the PHB in the following ways. The 3rd level spell is Land Womb, the 6th level spell is Undeath to Death, and the 8th level spell is Undeath’s Eternal Foe. These spells are all found in Magic of Faerun. the Spell domain is found in the FRCS.)

Favored Weapon: Dagger

You know, I'm really going to have to get the Magic of Faerun source book. Looks like there are lots of neat things in there- unfortunately, I don't, so Ican't comment on the spells and domains you assign to Wee Jas.

Anyway, I like what you've done as a description of her and her church. However, I think that a few more ambiguous or shadowy features could be added, particularly based on other descriptions of the Ruby Witch.

Frex, teach that when the souls of foolish and chaotic mages pass on, they are tested in the Death Goddess's realm on Acheron. Tests no wizard has yet passed. Evil followers of Wee Jas are on the look out for "irresponsible" spell casters, especially those who skills might amuse their dark goddess.

And I would like it if followers of Wee Jas could seek the embrace of undeath for themselves. In other words, make an exemption in the policy against undead for liches and the equivalent. Frex Vek in the Knights of the Silver Quill adventure, and General Aleax in Piratecat's Story Hour (I'm not sure what Aleax is, of course, but he seems the kind of undead that Wee Jas would tolerate.)
