Commuting to a game

I regularly drive 60 miles (45 minutes to an hour) one way to play and run RPGA games in Austin. I also drive to Austin once a month to play Traveller.

For my home D&D game, I'm lucky in that the drive is just 5 minutes.

Wow. Lots of DC/Northern VA area folks.

Every other week I drive 30 or so miles (60 minutes) from work to my one game. The return home is 27 miles (30 minutes). The ride to the game is usually a bit tough, as Friday evening traffic can be awful; the first half hour is usually stop and crawl.

(For folks in the NoVA area, I go from McLean to Leesburg, and then back to Oakton after the game. The toll road (Dulles Toll Road/Greenway) isn't too bad, save the stretch by Dulles.)

Considering you really have to drive to get anywhere in WV (especially Morgantown), I'm usually not unwilling to drive 1 to 2 hours. However I prefer not to if at all possible. Sloth is my patron saint at the moment. :p :)

I will be willing to commute far again, once I get a vehicle that gets much better than 15 MPG, because I will likely have to drive 54 miles each way.

Right now I am happy with the games I am able to play in.

*is still waiting to see how much further he might have to go just to game...* Hopefully when 2007 starts, I'll be starting anew. Game that is! ;)

I drive 25 miles each way on a weekly basis to DM/play (from the south side of Nottingham to the west side of Derby). The journey there is the worst as it's through rush-hour traffic and takes around an hour. The journey home (between 11pm-midnight) only takes about 25-30 minutes. I don't mind the commute as the games are fun.

I've been lucky in the past because, even though I gamed at a neutral venue, it was the local community centre so I could walk there in 2-3 minutes. Having said that, I have driven for a couple of hours (each way) for weekend-long gaming sessions when I moved away from the area and still wanted to play in the campaign :)

I'm willing to go anywhere in the Denver metro area, but most times I find myself hosting (for D&D anyhow, other game systems are a different matter) on weekend nights. Really, I try to limit myself to a 40 minute drive. I've tried games across town on Friday nights - rush hour makes it hideous.
