D&D 5E Companion thread to 5E Survivor: Species

One more down, nine million to go.

This is maybe one that could have used a few build up threads. Like elves, dragonborn, etc, or by sourcebook to cut things down to a reasonable level.

Most arguments for and against the Warforged focus on whether or not they "belong in D&D." But the better argument would be whether or not they belong in Ravenloft, or on Athas, or in Midgard, or in whatever fantasy setting you happen to be playing. "Warforged in D&D" and "warforged in Middle Earth" are two different topics.
I'd rather we instead pivot to accepting that Middle Earth doesn't fit into D&D.

Yeah, so I've heard.

The funny thing is, you can substitute the name of any fantasy setting in place of "Middle Earth" and you will get the same argument from the same number of people. "Shannara isn't a good fit for D&D! The Randlands don't work in D&D! Ancelstierre/Prydain/Westeros doesn't belong in D&D!" and so on, forever.

That would be because D&D is and always has been drunk.

And Westeros doesn't belong anywhere.
