D&D General Companion Thread to D&D Survivor: Dragons, Metallic

Where did you pull that? It's beautifully formatted for the boards!
There was a website called the Monstrous Index that had every 2e monster. However, it is only available through the wayback machine now. Some links are broken, but a lot of them still work:
Monstrous Index

I just copied and pasted.

When you asked for the source I did look to see if it was back on line. I couldn't find the old website, but I did find three others that seem to be basically the same if not quite as easy to navigate IMO:

Complete Monstrous Manual
Complete Monstrous Compendium
Monstrous Manual

would the carbon dragon be a diamond dragon?
Diamond Dragons are a different thing. In the Rules Cyclopedia, the rulers of the Mystaran dragons are Pearl, the Moon Dragon, Ruler of all Chaotic Dragons; Opal, the Sun Dragon, Ruler of all Neutral Dragons; the Great One, Ruler of All Dragonkind; and, Diamond, the Star Dragon, Ruler of all Lawful Dragons.

EDIT: Also, it occurs to me that there was a Diamond Dragon prestige class in the Dragon Magic book.

Which will not save them.

Did they eat their zinc and tin (and carbon for the steel one) progenitors?
You may laugh (as it was definitely played for a joke), but Ed Greenwood has confirmed that David C Sutherland had plans and/or stats for a zinc dragon. To paraphrase Ed:
... a certain TSR higher-up... said in response to DCS, "Aaaand even the g-d kitchen zinc. When it comes to dragons, some people have to beat an idea to death with a stick."

There is another mention of Zinc dragons after that. Got the tip off here but a 3E Dragonlance product had mention of a bunch of other dragons who technically kind of existed in Dragonlance but have never shown up with stats. A completely different set of Iron, Nickel, Zinc, Lead and Tin.

Iron and Nickel are both in Ferrous these days but Zinc, Lead and Tin never really escaped that little bit, even if the Lead dragon is the only one of the type who showed up
