Complete Adventurer is Rogues/Bards book!

There are people who can not afford that kind of money.

There a lot of things in this world people without a lot of money cannot buy. Big houses, expensive cars, vactions to exotic far off places. Don't try deny those things to those who can afford them, however.

I'd be a bit more supportive of the idea that the books are all about archetypes rather than classes if 'complete divine' hadn't been wholly about druids and clerics. 'complete warrior' was really great - stuff for everyone! But then complete divine just ruined it all.

I think there's, what, two feats that don't require you to have either wildshape or turn undead?

I mroe or less agree (excpet that feats that require turn undead are for paladins as well as clerics). CD was disappointing in it's aplicability to non-divine spellcasters and other characters. The true believer/relics stuff was nice, but mostly it was crunch for clerics.

It will be interestign to see how CAr and... CAd (?) will cover the options for all mantra.

I thought someone said that Warlock was the former name for the Hexblade, which was later changed...

However, let's hope this Complete Adventurer has really something new and good, because I cannot think of how it can be filled up to 200 pages...
I didn't like the Complete Warrior, but it had a good point in trying to be useful to every class, based on the fact that more or less everyone makes some attack roll early or late :heh: . The came Complete Divine: much better "crunchy bits" IMHO, but alas it is not much a book for every class anymore, and it goes back to the 3.0 classbook line in concept. Same will be with Complete Arcane. I really don't expect much from Complete Adventurer, so I am hoping for some surprises...

The old Song & Silence was the worst book in the 3.0 classbook series, probably because there was not much to add to Bards and Rogues and what was added was not well designed (it had the worst PrCl ever :( ).
The few useful bits from S&S have already been revised and pulished in PHB (feats, traps) and Complete Warrior (feats, equipment), as well as its best PrCl. What's left in S&S is flavor stuff - which obviously won't need a revision - and the remaining PrCl, most of which were terrible.

So, what else is going to be in Complete Adventurer?
Wilderness stuff? I though that was what the environmental series was all about...
Skills? I believe they are covered enough.
Sneaky combat? They should have thought more about it in Complete Warrior, if the feats there weren't enough.
Bardic stuff? Why leaving it out of Complete Arcane?
Equipment? After Arms & Equipment Guide, it's hard to find something new and interesting.

With all these in mind, it seems to me that Complete Adventurer will be the least interesting of the series, with just a bunch of boring crunchy bits and revised material. At this point it could be even worse that Song & Silence. :( I hope I'm being pessimist and that CV will completely surprise me for good, but I almost wish they were not doing this book at all rather that making it badly...

Perhaps shifter PrC will be in Frostburn.

I hope that isn't the case. I had no plans on buying Frostburn. I own a copy of Frost & Fur, so my arctic setting needs have been covered. But if that has the Shifter PrC... *sigh* I was hoping I could skip that book. May you be wrong sledged. :)

The wu jen class appears in Oriental Adventures; one can assume that, like the shugenja in Complete Divine, it will be an update of the version in that book.

The warlock is apparently a spell-like ability "caster", with unlimited uses of his tricks per day.

Dread Pirate PrC

I sincerely hope there's an updated prestige class along the lines of the Dread Pirate from Song and Silence. The Swashbuckler class, while it would make a great starting point for the Dread Pirate, doesn't provide the pirate status class abilities that the prestige class attempted in 3.0e. Unfortuntaely, the Dread Pirate didn't quite live up to its name, but perhaps it will reappear in the Complete Adventurer. I'm certainly hoping it does, though I won't hold my breath. Thankfully AEG's Swashbuckling Adventuers gave me enough ideas to adjust the Dread Pirate to my own personal liking, but I would still like to see a revamped official version as piracy/sailing is a highly neglected area in WotC D&D.

I hope the Complete Adventurer is more Adventurer than it is rogue/bard. More stuff for everyone rather than stuff for rogues/bards and a little thrown in for everyone.

Aaron.

I thought I'd mention that Forgotten Realms' The Shining South has a note regarding an updated Dread Pirate PrC to be included in the Complete Adventurer. So there's another for the list. For the sake of my campaign I hope they get it right this time. ;)
