I picked it up when it and Complete Warrior were 60% off at Amazon a while back (just because of the price) and have never regretted the purchase. i defy anyone to read any theee conituous pages of the Draconomicon and not have an idea for an adventure, if not an entire compaign, centered around dragons. And that, my friends, is what a game book should do -- it should grab you by the short hairs and demand that you use the stuff you just read, in some manner, in the very next game you run or play in. nay. it should demand you call off your current campaign and start playing "it" right then and there.
Whew. I feel better.
I'm gonna have to take the challenge then.
Draconomicon was sexy. It was also written very well and was an enjoyable read.
And I can think of almost nothing from that book that I care to actually use that I didn't already know (or couldn't come up with myself in a pinch).
I felt it was a decent buy as a picture book and as entertainment. As a game book I felt I wasted a horrid amount of money.
Which is to say, overall, I'd suggest checking it out thoroughly in the store before purchase.
