I thought the mindbender was trash before. I don't see how they are going to improve it.

They can start by not giving it fixed DCs for its special abilities...

Sure, it's not a great improvement, but it's still an improvement! :D

Cheers!

See - I could understand a slightly improved version of blindfight that does additional things (like negate miss chances as well as concealment, or provide a reroll against mirror image), but I really don't like feats which just flat-out defeat another feat or spell.

I'm going to echo Merric here and ask if you have a problem with spells designed to specifically counter other spells/feats.

I.e. Stone to Flesh and Flesh to Stone

I seem to remember that being a problem with pale master (that I had to fix when I made an epic version). Did they fix that in Libris Mortis.

Feats are always on, always available. Spells aren't. Either the wizard had to memorize it, or the sorcerer had to have it as one of his limited slots and then still have castings left.

The closest would be a spontaneous caster with 'Dispel Magic' and countermagic feats. Stone to Flesh and Flesh to Stone isn't pervasive enough to cause a problem.

I honestly don't think there are many monsters out there who need or have magical bonuses to their armour class.

This doesn't necessarily negate your point, but I just wanted to say that a lot of the monsters in MMIII have some sort of magical AC bonus. The night twist, astral stalker, and lifeleech otyugh are what spring to mind.

You need to have the feat in the first place. Given that the number of feat slots is so much more limited than spell slots, I think you'll find top tier spells are so much more available than specific feats like Pierce Magical Concealment. (And if PMC requires Blindfight... urk.)

Dispel Magic and Break Enchantment are very, very common. (And better examples than stone to flesh, IMO).

Cheers!

The other thing to consider is the type of campaign - in a humanoid-heavy campaign, such feats become more useful.

Cheers!

Don't forget that the Complete books have included some Epic feats. The one that blows through magic based protections sounds like an epic feat to me. Also, lots of monters have magic bonuses at that point, so it's a bit more equal opportunity. I certainly hope so anyway. Where's the feat that has a caster's spells take all away all the magic bonuses to saves? Or, as a defensive version, all the magic related bonuses to damage.

I wonder as well - I haven't seen LM yet. (Nor the Basic Game, nor Map Folio II - though some might count that latter as a blessing!)

Cheers!
