I never bought any of the 3.0 splats, so there is no re-hashing for me.

I really, really like the warlock. other than that, the book is of no use to me. But the warlock merits an "it's alright" rating from me.

wow, 30 bucks for a single class, you must really like the Warlock!!

I'm not a big fan of mages (well, as far as someone adicted to FRPGs can say that), but I've quite liked CArc. It hasn't seen much direct use, yet, since my game's been on hiatus for a couple of months. There's some good info, though.

The warlock made this book. For once, WotC was able to provide a fairly innovative piece of design without stuffing up the power level.

I would like to see the warlock made OGC because it just screams out for more invocations etc... as well as even more flavour.

Im not the biggest fan of the warlock, but still like the book.
The warlock just dosn't fit into my headspace/capagian
although I could see giving outsiders levels in it.

I really like some of the new prestige classes - specifially the 2 bard, and the intiate of seven veils. The warmage is readymade for one of my empires.
There are also feats that allow anyone to cast a few themed cantrips.
as for spells? Im torn. I dont like the everpresent orbs, but enjoy mass resist element. My DM rode the fence before allowing the very powerful but limited assay reisitance.
I dont really regret buying it, but it was'nt quite what I wanted either

It is a good book, but it doesn't do what it says it does. As a book for arcane caster, it is really cool with some great feats and ideas. But it fails on the basic level of being complete.
You keep saying that, but I'm not sure how that's true.

There's spells for pretty much every core class that casts spells (and even the hexblade), there's that great feat-chain for wizard-slaying fighters, there's feats that give ANYONE spellcasting, magic items, etc.

I'm not sure what you think is missing from this book, but a book that gives spell-casting to rogues, useful and interesting feats to fighters and spells to everyone is pretty "complete" to me.

What do you think this book should have had?

Which, if you read my posts, is pretty much what I said.

It's less Complete than say Complete Warrior. CW had PrC, Feats, and Spells useful for everyone. PrC's devoted to Ftr/Wiz, Barb/Wiz, Druids, Clerics, Bards, Rogues. It really had a nice balance of stuff for every class.

CA does this... a little as most of the stuff is geared towards arcane spellcasters. Not much if any of the stuff would be useful for a Cleric or a Druid. Less complete, but still good and I'm quite glad I have it.

The book was kind of luke warm for me. I liked the warlock and I loved the flavor that the wu jen gives it. Though I must agree with Crothian that the book hardly helps with all classes. I really don't think any of them have even CA though I have yet to really dive into that book so I may have missed somethings.

In all of those books I was a little disappointed, it was just a bunch of feats spells and core classes that while cool I felt unecessary. What I thought is that they would have a more definitive section on how to play a paladin with an arcane twist, or a Rouge with a divinish bend to it. But all in all I am glad that I bought them if for nothing less than the fact the players can't spring anything new on them.

The Seraph of Earth and Stone

I really like it.

What I've found with the complete books, is that with any character I create I end up picking stuff for him from at least two different Complete books. I don't regret buying any one of them. For me, the complete series was a very good thing WotC made.

Sure, there are some flukes (Radiant servant of Pelor, Frenzied Berzerker, the Orbs spells...) but in each book there are many items I will gladly use.

Also, I'm sure there is stuff in them that I like that you wouldn't use, and vice versa. That fact alone demonstrates well that WotC managed to put a little bit of everything in the books for everyone. Rare indeed is the DM that will say he has no use at all for any given complete book (just look at this poll's results).
