Complete Book of Eldritch Might...

I picked it, the local store had it for 5$ off 930 instead of 35). It looks good and I like having this all in one book. It'll make them easier to use now.

I'm very disappointed in Monte's 3.5 update. Just take a look at this free addendum supposedly updated to 3.5:

http://www.montecook.com/arch_stuff1.html

Look at the bottom for the suggested house rule of using +3 for skill focus instead of +2. How is that "updated to 3.5?"

I love the Books of Eldritch Might, but I'm saving my money this time, and I'll be looking more closely at Monte's stuff labeled "3.5" before I buy.

Wow looks like Monte dropped the ball on this one...

If I could get a raise of hands... If you don't own them would you buy them?

As a footnote the Book of Hallow Might "3.5" comes out on Monday. (What about that one?)

I looked at this in the store the other day, but I couldn't justify it at $35.

Also passed up on FFG's Wildscape, which was $28.

Prices are going up, but what's inside seems like the same old stuff.

How's the AU conversion section? I'm playing a Magister in an AU campaign right now, so this part interests me a lot. However, some of the spells are probably too powerful for AU, so how the conversion is handled matters a lot. I'm just hoping it isn't a quick glossover.

Since I already have the original books in either PDF or book form, this is kind of the make or break it part for me.

I would recommend the combined volume for people who do not have the individual books already.

I have them, and it sounds like my personal notes are already a more thorough 3.5 update than they are getting in the combined book.

I have the Book of Hallowed Might, and was looking forward to seeing it updated. 3.0 or 3.0.5 (as it sounds like the light pass is), it is full of good ideas; the Hallowed Mage PrC is a reasonable compromise on how to do a Divine/Arcane multi-class character, for example, without being totally hosed in Caster Level as a result. It will not be to everyone's taste, but I like it.

I am *still* looking forward to the Book of Hallowed Might II (announced for later), but I am far less enthused about the CBoEM, now.

I have the BoEM in print and the BoEM 2 in pdf. I looked at the CBoEM today at the FGLS and found it to be 50-50. I was already worried that a lot of spells would be gimped after someone posted the revisions to Bolt of Conjuration, but that was the only real change I noticed.

I found the spell section had a ton of stuff I didn't recognize, and magic items too. I figure those are from the BoEM 3, if I recall from flipping thru it the crunchy bits are scattered everywhere.

Things I figured would be changed weren't. Like the Acid spells. In 3.5 Acid Splash, Acid Arrow and Acid Cloud are No save, No resistance spells. The acid spells weren't changed in CBoEM, though I suppose they do some extra things not like the 3.5 acid spells. Further, I expected to see web extras compiled and put into the book, for example http://www.montecook.com/arch_stuff8.html which I specifically looked for and are absent from the book.

I didn't pay close attention to the monsters, I suspect they may have gotten a better treatment for conversion.

Ultimately, I won't buy it yet cause I can't afford to, but maybe down the road I'd pick it up because I can see the efficiency of having all 3 books in one cover, plus the 3.5 and AU conversions could be useful. I'm not a fan of 3.5, so until I absolutely have to buy it, I wont.

I, too, am rather disappointed. Welter should have been updated - in 3.0, knocking someone on their ass was annoying, but not so brutal. In 3.5, with being prone having become so much more dangerous, the spell needed nerfing, badly.

I guess I'll save my money for new pdfs instead

I was wondering how deep the conversions were. I really like the original three Books of Eldritch Might PDFs, but since the price for the 3.5 updates is not insignificant, I'd rather use that money to buy new PDFs. I do hope they'll do a better 3.5 conversion for the Mindscapes PDF, since psionics has changed even more than spells in 3.5.
