Complete Psioinc...now we've had time...

The feats are too racial specific. What if I want to play a psionic dwarf or elf, 75%+ of the feats are for the psionic races.

Gee. I love people who can't count.

How on earth did you get the figure of 75% psionic-race feats from Complete Psionic?

47 Psionic General feats
28 Psionic Racial feats
4 General feats
8 Host feats
9 Illithid Heritage feats
7 Metapsionic feats

103 feats. 27% require a psionic race (assuming the Host feats can be taken by anyone; the description is confusing).

Incidentally, as a comparison:
Complete Warrior: 82 feats (58 general, 6 divine, 8 tactical, 10 weapon style)
Complete Divine: 40 feats (11 general, 11 divine, 1 item creation, 5 metamagic, 12 wild)
Complete Arcane: 64 feats (29 general, 9 draconic, 1 item creation, 25 metamagic)
Complete Adventurer: 54 feats (45 general, 3 bardic, 6 wild)

That many of the feats of Complete Psion are rather class-based (or race based) is not in doubt; I don't really mind this, however.

Cheers!

Feats

There don't seem to be any good non-racial, non-illithid feats for psions. The host feats are kalashtar and Inspired only (at least, it says "In Eberron, kalashtar and Inspired are considered to host psionic entities, and thus qualify for host feats). So, what use do I (as someone who doesn't have Eberron stuff) have for these?

Psymbiont has always been a favourite feat, especially in a party of psionic characters or when fighting psionic creatures.

Mental Juggernaut has some good uses, especially good for Illithid slaying.

Mind Cleave can be a just plain brutal feat, as a Soulknife with Great Cleave could now easily take out a bunch of weak creatures and still have their Mind Blade charged.

Linked Power is really useful for characters who manifest a lot of buffing powers.

That I can (possibly) agree with. Mind you, given they hid a couple of feat lists later in the chapter, the new metapsionic feats may be interesting to psions.

The host feats are kalashtar and Inspired only (at least, it says "In Eberron, kalashtar and Inspired are considered to host psionic entities, and thus qualify for host feats). So, what use do I (as someone who doesn't have Eberron stuff) have for these?

My interpretation of the host feats is that by taking a host feat, you gain a possessor if you didn't have one already. Kalashtar and Inspired may take host feats to expand the capabilities of the possessing spirit they already have.

Even without Eberron, you should be just able to say "my character is hosting a spirit" and go from there. They're hardly Eberron-specific.

Cheers!

There is no need to use Eberron stuff, or even be using a Kalashtar or Inspired character, to take a Host feat. It is very clear, actually. Other than Host Focus, Spiritual Force, and Strength of Two, the Host Feats have no prerequisite. As such, they can be taken by any character. I think the special benefit to Kalashtar and the Inspired is that they already have a psionic entity residing within them, so they qualify for the higher tier Host Feats without needing to take one of the base feats.

I'm not fond of the prestige classes, and the feats leave something to be desired. The base classes are okay, but I'm not really thrilled by any of them. The powers, though, are great.

It's odd - I can readily absorb new spells, feats and classes, but new psionic powers I can't judge easily. Thus, I'll take your word for it!

My main attention has been on the love given to the Soulknife in CPsi, as it's the class I like the most of the Psionic classes.

Cheers!

"Widespread" negative reactions? "Fiasco"? Anyone know what Razz is going on about this time? :uhoh:

Wow, dude, where have you been? Every Complete Psionic thread I have gone to has a gargantuan ratio of those dissatisfied with Complete Psionics to those satisfied (and even that crowd is only semi-satisfied). That's what I mean by "widespread". Go to any CP thread and you'll see it. I am on their side, of course.

As for the "fiasco", come on. How do you whoop out something awesome like XPH, Races of Stone, and PHB2, and Complete Adventurer and then totally screw up on something like Complete Psionics and Races of Destiny for example? It's obvious what WotC should be doing and not doing, by the large fans of the former product list and the despisement of the latter list.
