I made a level 12 comoner in my campaign. Human, 104 old... With -6 in each physical ability score, she has...12 hit point. Her attack bonus is +3 or +4. But she has high int, cha and wis.

Whoa! You know what the screwiest part about that is? That she's CR 11. So if a party of 4th-level characters were to waste her, they'd gain 10,800 XP points for her. That's 2,700 each assuming a party of 4. Geeze. Even the party Wizard could beat her to death bare-handed, nevermind the entire party put together!

i think you'd have to think about that XP reward... a little DM fiat goes a long way.

No, I don't think they should do both, what with the reduced staff and all. And last time I checked, this is a subsidiary corporation. To publish an NPC class book may be profitable for any small third-party d20 publisher but not feasible for Wizards, unless they are purposely trying to drive their business into the same hole as TSR.

You're not thinking like a suit, you're just thinking like any other person who has their own opinion on the subject. Namely, you're assuming that an NPC book wouldn't be profitable. I think it could/would be. I know I'd buy it. Who cares if WotC is a subsidiary company or not? That has nothing to do with how good their material is. They're rep is good enough that I'd purchase such a book, and there for it would be feasible. Besides, some of those other third-party people do similar things, and they really aren't that small at all. Now you see why that wouldn't drive them into a hole.
