Neil Gaiman's American Gods has several small cons described within it, my favorite being the ATM con. Rare is it when you can get people to literally hand you sacks of cash and walk away (I'd love to describe it but that would probably be highly illegal in a public forum. Go read the book. It's well worth your time.) Using it as inspiration, I made my current d20 Modern character a con man of small means; I've done some more research and the lengths that cons go to can reach amazing heights.
