I'm running a play-by-post game based on the Tower of the Elephant story. It is moving along nicely (but a bit slow - as pbp games can be). The characters attempted to enter the tower grounds without much stealth and ended up being driven away by the guards. Lots of guards! They're looking for an alternate and easier way in now
I'm looking forward to the new setting book to help add some depth into my knowledge of the lands and people.
I've made some house rules to help work around some of my game mechanic dislikes (Class Defense issues, DR being too high, Sorcerer defensive blast abuse, wonky feint maneuver, etc.). But the game has many strengths as well. Nothing I can't fix or haven't fixed to my tastes.
I've also been thinking of starting up another Conan pbp game using DnD3.5/Unearthed Arcana/Call of Cthulhu d20 (and for me - the Hyborian Age setting book coming out). I thought this might open some doors for people who want to play Conan but either can't afford the Conan book or who have issues with the rule problems. (Hopefully the revised book can help with some of these rules issues. The book was just not well edited and seems to have needed more play-testing.)
I'm a big fan of Conan and am happy to see some material for it being published again.
So overall - things are going well.
My tip - maybe wait for the revised book. It SHOULD be much better in terms of editing, clarity, and - hopefully - rule balance and consistency.
