I understand your position.

While I appreciate how annoying it is to have to fight against the rulebook---it also appears in this particular case that the parts hindering your game may actually enhance mine.

So again, I appreciate a defined setting (and all the flavor elements accompanying it) in the core books.

There is ways to get these two positions to work together.

You have a feat called Shape Spell (or whatever) instead of Golden Wyvern Adept. You then have a section on Organizations or you have a sidebar on Wizard orders. I like the side bar idea. In the sidebar, describe the orders and their benefits as well as the feats they use or need to join.

For Example (not this is really rough)

Wizard of the Golden Wyvern
Apprentice: Requires 1 shape spell feat
+2 to social tests with order members
Adept: Requires 1 stave feat & 2 shape spell feats
+2 to resource tests with order membets
Master: Requires 2 stave/ 3 shape spell
+2 to casting tests with shape spells
