Confirmed Classes

Gents,

Now that DDE has come and go, can someone please clarify for me the following.

The screen shots for the DDI Character Generator did not show any of the 5 following classes, and I'd like confirmation as to if they are actually not in the 4ed PHB.

Barbarian
Bard
Druid
Monk
Sorceror

If this is true, then that is just the final nail on the coffin for 4th edition for me.

I know that the missing classes will appear in future supplements, but I've spent litterally $1000's on 3.x and haven't used a fair portion of that material. I can't start thinking about spending $1000's on a new and uncompatible version of DnD over the next 5 years, just to do it again. I know that Hasbro and their stockholders would love this 'guaranteed' income, but I don't find 3.x repulsive enough or 4.0 enticing enough to warrant a jump at this time.

Sorry for the mini rant.

Any answers to clarify my questions above would be much appreciated.

You are correct in that those five classes will most likely not appear in the 4e PHB.

These classes are postponed for later release.

There are 8 classes in the PHB, and none of those you listed are included.

They will almost certainly all be re-introduced in later PHB's though. You might just want to defer 'til then, or perhaps build your own versions until the official ones arrive (then maybe ignore them and continue to use your own!).

The first PHB will have the following:

RACES
Human
Elf
Eladrin
Half-Elf
Halfling
Dwarf
Dragonborn
Tiefling

CLASSES
Cleric
Fighter
Paladin
Ranger
Rogue
Warlock
Warlord
Wizard

The Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, and Sorcerer likely won't appear until the PHB2 (Although it's possible they may appear sooner, like on DDI, which is supposedly where they're going to first release the 4E Half-Orc).
