D&D 5E Confusion about spells and actions

No. The condition for an opportunity attack remains the same (some feats, like Sentinel, can help). The range of the spell has no effect.
Also does this mean that in addition to using action and bonus action to cast a spell and a cantrip my reaction (in lieu of said opportunity attack) can be a full spell and not a cantrip?
Basically does this net me:
Spell, cantrip, spell, cantrip
Spell, cantrip, spell, or
Spell, cantrip, cantrip?

The above is not correct. Because the Bonus action spell have a caveat that most people forget.

When you cast a bonus action spell, on the same turn the only other spell you may cast is a cantrip that takes 1 action. This is explicitly laid out in the PHB on page 202 under Bonus Action casting.

This means that during that same turn, you can not use a reaction to cast something. You can use your reaction on other's turns even if you bonus action spelled, just not on your own turn.

Now, there are two ways to cast three spells in a turn. Both involve Fighter's Action Surge. You can cast a spell, action surge, cast a spell, and cast a reaction spell (if it's triggered, like counterspell or shield against an OA while moving). Or you could cast a bonus action spell and two one action cantrips.

The bonus action rule doesnt apply here thougb. The reactions im wondering about happen in the same round. But not during my turn. The bonus action rule is specific to "during a turn". I actually didnt forget the caveat.

Also i meant to ask if i could cast three spells in a round or 4. Not in a turn.

Considering this new context and the fact that using a bonus action on my turn wont limit me to cantrips on my oponents turn what do you think?

Is it true that you can potentially cast 3 spells in a round as a wizard if you use one as an action, one as a reaction, and one as a bonus action?
Yes, as long as you are not casting the Reaction spell on your turn (as you noted in a later post).

You can cast 3 spells on your turn if you multiclass into Fighter and use Action Surge, which gives you another Action.

Action: Cast a cantrip.
Second Action: Cast a cantrip.
Bonus Action : Cast a spell.

Combining this with a Reaction spell on someone else's turn gives you four spells in a round.

I'm pretty sure that s/he was referring to the example in the first reply, above.

So yeah. Here's an example of one way in which you can do it:

On your turn- cast a bonus action spell + an action cantrip.

On an enemy's turn, use your reaction to cast a spell via War Caster or use a spell that has a reaction casting time.

If you want to get up to four spells, you need something like Action Surge- and even then, you can only cast another cantrip if you used a bonus action spell.
