If you are looking at Faerun spells though, I don't see CME outdoing Selune's Viper. SV is not concentration, it lasts an hour, so you precast it and if you hit the target is incapacitated for a turn with no save so all your enemies wail on it.

CME is most powerful against enemies with Legendaries, but against most of them I think SV is MORE powerful.

It doesn't work against enemies that are immune to poison, but other than that all you need to do is hit, which you need to do with CME anyway.

Its just brute damage. Eg vicious weapons plus CME.

I dont rate damage that much on spellcasters outside emanations or similar.

Have you seen divine intervention into prayer of healing?
