Constantine teaser

... I wouldn't care so long as my American ears are fooled by the accent--it doesn't seem like Keanu is even trying.
That's because, in the film, the character is not British. For whatever reason the producers, writers, etc, decided that he would play better as an Amercian. so are beloved John is now a New York detective that has a "feel" for supernatural events.

Well, that, quite frankly, sucks. I probably still see it though...maybe a rental.

Not even. He's a Los Angeles detective.

No riding the synchronicity highway. Not even a trench coat, as far as I can tell. They probably thought it was too "Hellboy."

Twitch.

No, considering it's Keanu, they probably thought it would be too Matrix, the movie that single-handedly revived the trenchcoat+katana look.

I kind of like it. Haven't read a lot of Hellblazer in my days and I can't say it's my favorite (that would be Preacher). Still, I like Keanu enough to maintain a flicker of hope for this film.

This sucks.

Why do we have to Americiaize everything. You had a great story, wonderful characters and story and then we come in and screw with it and then wonder why the movie sucked. This was why LotR could not be made here. I am almost to the point of anarchy! Just wait to the movie Battle of Britain starring Tom Cruse as the American flyer. ARRRRRRRRRRR!

Hey now, Tracy. I loved the Tom Cruise movie where he played that young cocky guy.

Hong, good point -- and one more reason they should have gotten a different actor. Huh; is there another actor that does as many huge films but whom is generally so disrespected by both critics and fans? For the life of me, I'm having trouble coming up with anyone.

That being said, I'll be willing to give it a chance. Any movie with a character named "Vermin Man" can't be all bad. I hope they didn't make a mistake giving it to a first-time director.

Actual potential spoilers for the movie:

According to the imdb, one of the characters is Ellie. In the comic Ellie is a succubus-type, a female demon on the run from Hell who acts as Constantine's contact with the (forgive me) nether regions. Satan himself makes an appearance in the movie as the 1st of the Fallen, as does the angel Gabriel (played by a woman.)

If the movie scores above 7 at IMDb I will go see it. It will be less than it could be because of Kung-Fu boy, but it might still be good. I'm too much of a Hellblazer fan to let it pass.

Mind you, I'm also a Punisher fan, and I will not see it. It scored under 7 (6.5) and the people of ENworld generally agreed it wasn't good.

I don't want to give the impression that I'm an IMDb slave either. Deep Impact scored 5.9 and me and the wife unit really enjoyed it. I rented it after I saw the IMDb rating thinking (what the hell) and was disapointed it got such a low rating.

I digress...

Hellblazer, I mean, Constantine is just too much for me to miss nevertheless. It will have to score quite low in order for me to skip it.

Huh, I guess that eliminates the plot from the books where
Ellie seduces gabriel and rips out his heart so that John can hold it hostage
... I'm not sure the switch works for me.

HellBlazer has been my favorite comic book for at least 10 years now. I can't possible bring myself to watch this raping of such a beloved character.

I haven't seen Punisher, but based on previews and reviews it seem alot closer to the comic than Constantine.

I truly can't understand how fans of HellBlazer can go see this movie.
