container capacities

The SRD has the following footnote on the gear table:

"These items weigh one-quarter this amount when made for Small characters. Containers for Small characters also carry one-quarter the normal amount."

I've looked and looked -- where are the "normal" capacities for containers documented?

A vial for ink or potions is documented as containing up to 1 oz. of liquid, but this is not one of the items so footnoted.

The capacities of containers was left out of the 3.5 PHB, presumably as an oversight. It's in the 3.0 PHB, on pg. 110.
