I'd say that those who stick to blacks and greys stand a best chance, but I'll reserve judgement until I see what I end up with. Tabs, however, don't necesarily need an aqua background or an array of bright colours! :)

So a big Red Wings banner at the top wouldn't probably work for you, then?

I haven't a clue what you're talking about. What are Red Wings? Some kind of spicy chicken wings?

Dreamweaver.

Thanks for the info! I seem to feel that a new design should also make maintaining the site as easy or easier than it is now Knowing how it is maintained helps.

It'd only take an hour or two to do!

For me personally it would take awhile longer. I use "Notepad."

I too would probably relegate the more infrequently updated stuff to other files such as most of the left menu.

The colors I'd do with CSS. Maybe four schemes visitors could choose from.

Unfortunately I'm slow at writing html, CSS etc. I just do it for fun not for a living. And I do have this big contest I am working on.

That sounds about right.
- Thinkig about a completely new image/appearance of a web site: about 10 minutes.
- Drafting it all with new ideas for composition: about 5 minutes.
- A completely new graphical overhaul: about 10 minutes.
- Inserting all the liitle old things at positions where they might work better than before: about 5 minutes.
- Making it still look good with the old color scheme: about 10 minutes.
- Transferring that concept into a working website with working code: about 10 minutes.
- Doing all the small images to go with it: about 10 minutes.
- Copy over all the text to give the impression of a working site: about 5 minutes.
- Copy over and modify all the specials and images to show how you would like those to look like: about 5 minutes.
- Do some finishing polish to make sure it's worth entering a contest: about 10 minutes.
80 minutes. Just exacly how it works.
And if you really think all this bull:):):):) is true, you just don't want any good work to be sent in.
