I really don't mean to be rude, but what are you getting at? I can't tell from your posts. Do you feel Morrus has unrealistic expectations? Do you feel he's offering too little compensation for what he wants? If so, all I can say is that it would be a good thing to have on one's resume as a web designer that one was responsible for the look of the largest d20 RPG fan resource. At least, it certainly couldn't hurt. That seems like pretty good compensation to me.

That sounds about right.
- Thinkig about a completely new image/appearance of a web site: about 10 minutes.
- Drafting it all with new ideas for composition: about 5 minutes.
- A completely new graphical overhaul: about 10 minutes.
- Inserting all the liitle old things at positions where they might work better than before: about 5 minutes.
- Making it still look good with the old color scheme: about 10 minutes.
- Transferring that concept into a working website with working code: about 10 minutes.
- Doing all the small images to go with it: about 10 minutes.
- Copy over all the text to give the impression of a working site: about 5 minutes.
- Copy over and modify all the specials and images to show how you would like those to look like: about 5 minutes.
- Do some finishing polish to make sure it's worth entering a contest: about 10 minutes.
80 minutes. Just exacly how it works.
And if you really think all this bull:):):):) is true, you just don't want any good work to be sent in.

It's just a bit of fun - I don't want people to waste hours of their time crafting a masterpiece for a mere $50 worth of game books. It wouldn't be fair on them.

It only took me an hou or so to design the current layout; I don't need anything more complex or fancy than the current layout, just something a little different and reorganised in a different way. If people choose to spend longer on it, that's their call, but it's not necessary.

Time spent involved with this site is never wasted my friend! Each moment is a rare pleasure in an otherwise mundane life.:)

While I don't agree with the flavor of "Like to help, but..." I do think there is a valid point running under his flames.

A couple days isn't enough to redesign a site the size of ENworld. Sure you can come up with a design in a couple hours, but it won't be well thought through and it won't have a chance of improving the overall flow of the current site.

I'm sending in a design, but I could do a lot better with two weeks. I didn't have time to really think about how the site is layed out and I didn't really make any improvements to how the information is organized.

Well, I'll extend it if poeple want me to - I just didn't want anyone wasting too much of their time for a measly chance at $50 of stuff. What do you all think? More time?

Personally I think some hours is enough - heck, it is only one page not a whole site, and you already have the colors and you don't have to do it the hard way, just plain vanilla HTML.

I wouldn't mind having a crack at it. But I found out just now so I would opt for more time. heheh :)

Done!

I have about 5 entries, and every one of them said "I can do better with more time". So I'm extending this by one week.

A small suggestion meanwhile

If you could just get back to what you had a while ago,

the left menu option all alligned to the left with smaller fonts and remove the underscore of the option menu. Only activate them with a rollover. Also, use smaller fonts in the news section, a bit like your old yellow background site.

and you would have a winner.

(Thinking about it, why don't you return to the yellow background site. Reading Dark text over pale background is always better for the eyes and you will keep your eyes in better health for your old years. You do know that some of us are on this site for a better part of their days ;) )
