Pathfinder 1E Controlling Your Lightining Bolt: Bounce, Ricochet, Skip, etc.

TarionzCousin

Second Most Angelic Devil Ever
Is there anything in the Pathfinder rules, including Third Party materials, that allows a spellcaster to gain greater control over the path of his/her lightning bolt? Are there any feats or magic items that enable one to bounce, ricochet, skip, or control in any way other than a straight line a lightning bolt?

3E and 3.5E stuff is welcome, too.

P.S. Yes, I know this was possible in earlier editions of D&D.

Well the answer to your question is metalagic feats. Some that could be seen as controlling your lightning bolt.

Seeking Spells
lets you choose the path your spell takes so you could cause a lightning bolt to completely avoid certain squares and even travel around corners.

Selective spell
also allows you to exclude creatures from the affects of your AOE Spells but not choose their path this can bee seen as ricocheting to avoid harming allies.

I know there's metamagic feats in 3x ...

If you're thinking about the rebound ability of lightning bolts ... like launching a bolt at the bad guys who are lined up (say 5 of them) in 5 squares and there's a stone wall behind them so it ricochets through them again [Hold on while I check and see if this still possible in PF] ... And, it does not in PF.

my thoughts are moot ... but, in my 1e/2e games of those bygone decades (80's/90's) when it did we had the PC roll an Int Check (roll under your Int). In 3x or PF, if you wanted this, have them make a Spellcraft check at DC 20 + any acceptable mods you'd like (like +1 for each critter you'd like to affect, +5 or more for difficult angles, +5 or more for poor visibility, ... )
