Converted adventures

I'm curious if there's been any information posted somewhere on the net on converting the old Shadowdale-based adventure Beneath the Twisted Tower. I'm not only wondering about what DCs and CRs I'll have to play with, but I'm also curious about the adventure's encounters. It's designed as a first-level adventure, but there's a certain area where, if the PCs fall in the water, they are royally screwed, because therein dwells an aboleth. I'm leaving everything as it is, but I'd like to hear some other thoughts.

I'm also interested in tracking down some conversion notes for Night Below, and I'm quite surprised that it's been so hard to track down information on the legendary campaign.

There was a thread not long ago about someone seeking advice on converting the aboleth with character levels from Night Below. You might want to chase them up, maybe even combine efforts.

I've used some material from Haranshire (Book 1 has some great ideas), but have never run Night Below as a whole. That said, I've talked to mates who went through it - and read opinions about it online - and got the impression that Book 2 could do with an overhaul.

I'd suggest that if you're doing a conversion for yourself (rather than one to be published on ENWorld, for instance) that you change Book 2 significantly, because by most accounts the campaign really gets boring at the "slay all these things to level you up" stage. With the higher rate of advancement in 3E, you should be able to cut down on this part of the campaign and keep the game interesting.

As far as my converting wish list goes, it would be nice to see Skullport converted to 3E. Has anyone done so?

Night Below - -

Most totally agree with the above. I DMed it well nigh 5 or 6 years ago, and found the first book interesting but from then on the rest was poor.

I was disappointed in the abundance of magic items (I perefer to personalize all magic items, and there were soooo many generic items in Night Below) and the near pointlessness of the 2nd book. But hey, that was our group - you might have a completely different experience; just warning you.

When I learned that Haranshire was a rural farming community, the first thing that popped into my head was "Shadowdale!" So I'd planned to skip over to book 2 once the time came, and when I got there, work on some reasoning behind all the "fight-monsters-level-up" stuff as the group matured and started approaching that heavy-hitter mark.
