Converting Planescape monsters

Oh, I feel like we had Dire on a magical beast not long ago. But it's probably easier just to go with Iron Will if we don't remember.

If I remember correctly, the most recent case of Dire Magical Beast syndrome was the Elite Giant Rat, aka the Ratbear.

Ahh, yes...that one. I begrudgingly agreed, since it wasn't going into the Creature Catalog. Harumph...if you desperately feel the need for Dire, I suppose I could live with it, but Iron Will (B) achieves the same result without any potential lingering ickiness.

Why do these need good Will saves in the first place?

Actually, we preferred to simply correct its Will save to its proper lower value.

Updated.

Alll done?

I'd think a Quill would need a higher Will save far more often than the Dire Porcupine we based the stats on. Some of them live in the lower planes and are hunted by fiends - it probably faces Will-save SLAs far more often than its mundane relatives would.

Still, leave it out if you like. It's going in my Cleon Special™ version regardless.

These things won't be going after the high HD Outsiders with loads of SLAs. Really, an imp's suggestion DC of 15 is about the worst it would face, and it could beat that about 35% of the time. So it seems ok.

Normal prey animals aren't usually "CR appropriate". A Lion tries to avoid going for a victim that has a significant chance of seriously wounding it, unless the Lion has no other choice.

How do you know they aren't regularly hunted by Erinyes with their at-will charm monster (DC 19)?
